VelyVelo: An Evolution on Two (or Three) Wheels!

In 2017, VelyVelo was founded to tackle the challenges faced by its founders in finding the perfect bike for pizza deliveries. At the time, thermal scooters dominated the market, but rising fuel, maintenance, insurance, and recruitment costs made it clear that a more economical alternative was needed.

This search for the ideal delivery bike led VelyVelo to partner with traditional electric bike suppliers and manufacturers. Eventually, they decided to design and produce their own models. Despite the usual startup challenges, VelyVelo gained traction and laid the groundwork for a bright future.

The year 2020 was pivotal, bringing unexpected challenges due to the pandemic. However, it also created new opportunities. The demand for rapid grocery delivery surged across Europe, including France. This prompted VelyVelo to quickly expand its operations. They grew their fleet to over 4,000 electric delivery bikes and set up workshops in key cities like Lille, Lyon, Marseille, and Bordeaux.

However, the trend for quick grocery deliveries soon began to wane. As lockdown restrictions eased, the need for 10-minute deliveries declined. Some major players exited the market in 2022 and 2023, leaving VelyVelo with a substantial fleet of bikes. In response, they pivoted their business model. While grocery delivery remains a service, the urgency for rapid deliveries has changed.

To adapt, VelyVelo formed partnerships with major companies like Uber and Stuart. With couriers operating in various cities across France, bike delivery for meals and groceries is still thriving and represents VelyVelo’s future!

Additionally, VelyVelo has used its experience and infrastructure to develop a network of clients focused on parcel deliveries with high-capacity cargo bikes. These bikes offer impressive range and can carry up to 2 m² or 300 kg, proving that such capabilities aren’t limited to delivery vans.

VelyVelo is committed to decarbonising deliveries. Whether it’s a hot pizza or your favourite jeans, they provide the tools for sustainable delivery. By staying adaptable to market demands, VelyVelo is shaping the future of eco-friendly and efficient delivery solutions.
